Vintage on the Street

Was checking out the the on-line version of Bazaar and came across this fab pictorial chronicling Paris street style shot by Tamu McPherson, street style blogger of All the Pretty Birds, a blog that you will be hearing and seeing more of I am SURE as it is fantastic and I am quite enamored with it now. I pulled some of her shots to share with you - I pulled the ones that have a vintage twist to them so we can all steal some styling ideas form these gorgeous fashion girls!

 Angela Lindval

Printed maxis are a summer staple but this Ossie Clark dress with its long sleeves can  transition smoothly through to fall by pairing suede boots and bag to anchor it and contrast with the flowy feel. I love that she is wearing it for day - don't automatically categorize the past the knee pieces into evening - think outside the box and make a strong statement for day!

 Athena Calderone

Perfect illustration of how to rock a 50s cropped fur or faux fur depending on your preferences, Make it uber chic and modern by mixing classics like the little croc bag and Jackie O sunnies with forward piece like a sexy mini, tights and sky high platforms. Notice she used the elbow length sleeve to full advantage and stacked on gold pieces for a nice pop.

Julia Sarr-Jamois

Latest fashion darling Julia Sarr-Jamois always makes a string fashion statement and this ensemble is no exception. That little red leather jacket could easily be a thrift store find and  its a great example of how to work a piece that can easily look dated but using proper proportions and not being afraid of color. Her skirt is short but she keeps it on the fashion level with the slouchy sweater and knit tights - love this look!

Jamie Bochert

I cant say 100% that this dress is a 40 sweater dress but boy, if its a current piece, some designer is really looking to the past for their "inspiration" either way it shows how wonderfully these piece can work in a modern setting. Chunky Anne Demeulemeester buckle boots, opaque tights and a layers sweater coat that is just a touch longer make this retro dress completely chic and modern.

Lou Doillin

Remember this coat girls - I have a red plaid version posting soon that you will die for and your first thought will be to go back to this picture of it girl Lou to get styling ideas. She is chic and casual and has a "I just threw this over my fab LBD" feel. The coat adds some texture and depth to her black and grey ensemble and she completely achieves that cool girl understated glamor.

Tallula Harlech

I have a absolute love for Edwardian and Victorian tape lace pieces - the workmanship is extraordinary in them and a little nit of me is always devastated that for some reason lace is a fabric modern girls seem to shun. So I was delighted to see this elaborate lace piece on Tallulah. The stark hair, bold black platforms and tights contrast beautifully with the piece and she looks devastatingly edgy and modern.
