Celebrity Vintage Spot

Debra Messing in vintage Oscar De La Renta, one of my personal favorite vintage designers adn a long time reigning king of the runways.

Did you know that Oscar De La Renta began his career studying painting at the age of 18 in Spain? His entry into the fashion world was as a fashion illustrator for Spanish fashion houses which led to an apprenticeship with none other then Cristobal Balenciaga! Can you even imagine working under Cristobal?!?!?

In 1961 Oscar moved to Paris as an assistant to Antonio Castillo of Lanvin. After 2 years he moved to Elizabeth Arden Couture & ready-to-wear salon in NYC and then in 1965 he went to the house of Jane Derby where he stayed until she dies in 1969 at which time he took the house over and gave it his own name!
