Thank you to the Toronto Star!

Click here to read the Toronto Star write up on the Halston Heritage event at The Bay, by Toronto fashion writer Derick Chetty. Yours truly was quoted and if you click the link for the pictures you can see what I wore - all vintage Halston!
(except for the shoes - those where Miu Miu)
I told them I had to be made taller and skinnier
(its in my contract)
but alas the fine print was missed
(teehee)
Thank you for including me in the article Derick - it was terrific to meet you too!

(will post more on the event soon - I promise)

Halston Heritage gets a pass

After tweeting loudly the disappointment I felt when seeing most of the new Halston collection (tres yuck except for some of the gowns and one bag) I was over -you-know-what-joyed when I saw Sarah Jessica parker filming the new SATC movie in a fabulous Halston Heritage dress (jump here to read what I had to say about this over at my Herald De Paris column)

Now this is what I am talking about.

Everyone's in the Hamptons.....

......including the beautiful Glamourai (go peek)
and as Style.com reports

"On Saturday, there were not one but two large-scale benefits, each with their own art auction. In East Hampton, Russell Simmons opened up his house for the tenth anniversary Art for Life party for his Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, a charity that supports public artistic projects for children in the city. ..........A town over, in Bridgehampton, meanwhile, revelers were whisked by golf cart past the rows of vineyards, horse stables, and the long, long swimming pool that make up Steven Klein's estate. The photographer was co-hosting a party with Calvin Klein Collection and Vanity Fair for ACRIA, the AIDS charity."

I have pulled some of the terrific summer looks for you.
Use them as inspiration as you hunt through the virtual racks over at Shrimpton Couture.
Can you spot the vintage equivalent to these looks?
Lots have their roots in vintage that is for sure!
Enjoy!

Pamela Glassman and Rachel Zoe rock caftans & maxis
find those here

Vanity Fair's Elizabeth Saltzman Walker with my girl, Tamara Mellon
go the opposite end of the scale in mini's

I have to admit that I do not have the vintage equivalent of this for the stage get up but I still had to share this picture - isn't it spectacular? BUT you could get the feel of the fringe and over the top lux by adding some Louise Black or RSVP pieces that I currently have in the shop

God I love Daphne Guinness - she is the modern day equivalent of all those woman who pushed fashion to its boundaries and constantly forged ahead.
Here she rocks a fringed mini and her own custom made-just-for-her platforms.
Get this look with a 20s piece

and the gorgeous Sarah Jessica Parker gets snapped with her husband Matthew Broderick, at the ACRIA's Cocktails at Sunset party wearing the modern equivilant of the wiggle dress

Celebrity Vintage Spot - Sarah Jessica Parker

This one slipped by me - Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted in this pretty vintage dress back in Arpil while attending her husbands play. Do you like the flower she added or no? A pop of color is always great but to me it seems out of balance on this outfit? Do you agree?

For a Bad Economy...

....some things sure are NOT being affected.
This morning on Net-A-Porter a version of the dress Sarah Jessica Parker wore for her character Carrie's wedding-that-did-not-happen sold out as soon as it hit the screen.
But then again it was reasonably priced at $9,875
