Beautiful Client Spot

Way back when, I helped Susie (of Style Bubble fame) find a bright and colorful vintage kimono. She posted a picture of herself in it on her blog and I posted that picture here, and was pleased as punch that she loved it!

I am even MORE pleased to know that she really does wear it as part of her ongoing wardrobe, and continues to do so. I found this gorgeous picture of that same Shrimpton Couture vintage kimono as part of a feature story on her and her style!

Doesn't she look fantastic?

She can put prints together with the ease of a master painter, that girl can. Susie is a serious print pro!

She is one of my favorite girls to watch style -wise. She is entirely original and mixes high with low, new with old, and established designer with the latest you-have-not-even-heard-of-yet upcoming, young designers.

AND if you do take the moment to jump to the first time I posted the picture of this kimono on Susie you get the bonus of having two styling examples on how to wear a vintage kimono.

Makes for a triple does of happiness for my beautiful client post today!

xoxocherie

PS the picture is from a new blog discovery - Tales of Endearment,  run by Natalie Joos. You should go peek. The full story that this picture appeared in has lots more of Susie and her style too - jump here.

Did she plan to be this fabulously coordinated with her car?

Shrimpton favorite - blogger Susie of Style Bubble fame, steps into her Citroen car during London Fashion week. Susie is the type of girl who can show up, see her ride is covered in the most outlandish of patterns (green 60s wallpaper anyone?) and yet STILL somehow be perfectly, magically coordinated with it and will probably set off a flurry of designers to their color boards to prep Spring 2012 catwalk line-ups in a palette of pinks, teals and greens. I am so sure of it that next spring I will reference back to this picture as proof and do something silly if I am not right!

Me, I would be standing next to the car in some weird shade of chartreuse or yellow and look like a bad 70s kitchenette. Les sigh. Some girls are just magical like that.

I love this picture so had to share. And I love Susie - she has posted about Shrimpton Couture on several occasions for which I am eternally grateful. Her support has meant the world. She is and will be a fashion powerhouse and she is super super nice too. A refreshing combination.

Susie this is officially one of my favorite pictures ever!

Susie + Shrimpton = Spring

Back in December, I happened to read a post by Susie, author of the Style Bubble on kimonos and her quest to find one. For some reason that post stuck with me and every once in a while I would have a thought that I had one that would work on her. It just sat there in the back of my thoughts waiting for me to catch up and clue in. Roll time ahead to about 6 weeks ago when I had one of those proverbial ah ha moments where that back of the mind thoughts and I met & shook hands and it clicked into place just which packed away, stashed away, kimono had been there waiting in my mind's "inventory" of goodies as the perfect match for a girl like Susie.

I tweeted Susie that same day and asked her to send me her mailing address and by day's end her vintage kimono went off on its merry way, over the seas and into her stylish hands.

And just look at what she did with it!

Susie you look fantastic and I love how you styled the kimono and did not just throw it over basic black (which is what a lesser force like me would be tempted to do)!

A lot of people get a little lost on how to incorporate something like a kimono into their daily life (it is a string look to be sure) and I think you have done a wonderful, striking job!

Stealing Wendy's Post

My friend Wendy Brandes did this post this morning and I have clipped it and am blatantly stealing it because I, like Wendy, prefer to take a stand when things are wrong and people are mean to other people. Shame shame shame that this happened and made Susie feel bad about herself. The team at the Hogg studios need to stand up, take responsibility and apologize.

My own regular blogging will ensue later. Please take the time to follow through the links - if one does not work jump direct to Wendy's post here

Wendy's Post:

......But I'll tell you what really grinds my gears. A designer named Pam Hogg. She specializes in designing shiny catsuits best worn by pop stars and celebrity spawn.

You regular gals who don't want to look like C-3PO on the stroll can get the more conservative dress version of the look for 795 pounds at Browns.

The mere existence of this stuff doesn't grind my gears. What bothers me is that gorgeous blogger and fashion adventurer Susie Bubble boldly modeled some of the Hogg catsuits for a fun post -- only to have Hogg's people complain that it was "bad publicity." Susie, being the nice person that she is, took the original post down. I, being the bitch that I am, say, "Welcome to the world of bad publicity, Pam Hogg!"

I also want to say to you peeps that there are a lot of designers who are thrilled by your enthusiasm for their work. I am always honored when customers or admirers post photos of my jewelry. I started a fan page on Facebook just to share those pictures. Basically as long as you're not stealing my designs -- or making off with one of my rings (that can only be forgiven once, Britney) -- take as many pictures as you like and let the world know how awesome I am! I know my designing friends Christian Francis Roth and Zang Toi feel the same way. So if you're going to spend your money, spend it with those of us who appreciate your fine asses! Do we have a deal? I think we have a deal! Just don't buy stuff, wear it and return it. Now THAT will piss me off.

UPDATED TO ADD: Racked.com posted on the topic with two of Susie's photos. Susie looks like a beautiful robot, no? My robotic Hogan shoes would complete the look.
