A Shrimpton Vintage Spot! Elena!

My MOST favorite vintage spots to do are of clients so when Elena let me see this picture I was THRILLED! Elena hit the town looking devastatingly fabulous in her neck piece from The Glamourai proving that a very simple style recipe work

take fab sunglasses
Add basic black simple cut basics that flatter a girl
Then add pretty shoes & gorgeous classic frame bag
mix with one stand-out piece of jewelry
dash in a self confident "I know I look beautiful" stance and voila

gorgeousity!

A Shrimpton + Norwegian Wood Collab Spot!

Beautiful blogger Nic, who authors the blog Vint Junky is a Shrimpton Couture client and snagged one of the pieces from the Norwegian Wood capsule collection the second it hit pre-order.

She sent me the link to her blog post today showing how she styled it
I have copied it in full for you - how gorgeous is she??

Fringe benefits

When the ever enlightening suzie posted that Angie of Norweigan Wood had been commissioned to produce some luxury pieces for the high-end vintage site Shrimpton couture i got over-excited. So over-excited infact that a few minutes and a lighter-bank balance later i had ordered a harness despite recent promises that impulse buys would be a thing of the past.

It arrived early this week and i've been superficially fawning over it's feathery fringed loveliness ever since.....

Real Life Vintage Spot - Laura in Ossie!

Gorgeous Laura posted this picture of herself in her printed Ossie Clark plunge maxi just for moi on Twitter (She is @laurakitty & I am @shrimptoncoutur if you want to follow us!)
Is she a beauty or what? How could I not post this!

Laura is not just a stunner to look at but she also has an amazing blog called sighs and whispers. I have been following it for a while and once I realized how utterly addicted Laura is to all things pretty and vintage I started to campaign to have her do the occasional guest post round here.

To my delight she has agreed! Watch for that to happen soon!

Real Life Vintage Spot

While cruising through the posts of some of my fellow bloggers this morning, I spotted this photo of this beautiful girl in her pretty dress & floral accent at The Sartorialist

Doesn't she look simply stunning? So fresh and pretty. I love how she took a little 1940s dress and paired it with flowers and brogues and patterned tights. and it all looks completely light and sunny and just wonderful.

I also was a bit taken aback as it is eerily like a dress I had just had cleaned and prettied up and have only just finished editing the photos on.
It's slated to go up on the site later today.

They are not exactly the same of course, that would be too much of a vintage coincedence - but they are awfully close!

getting your own outfit ideas yet?

The mastermind behind the Sea of Shoes blog wearing a massive amount of vintage necklaces paired with modern labels to give the look her own unique spin

Krystal Simpson who is the author and star of the What is reality anyway blog in a vintage neckpiece, vintage shirt and vintage Chanel bag

More Met Vintage

More Met vintage!

Amber Valletta wore yellow James Galanos.
This dress photoed terribly in most shots but I finally managed to find this one where it actually looks OK.

Katie Lee Joel wore this gorgeous little vintage Harvey Berin dress. Its almost as pretty as my gorgeous client Melissa in her Shrimpton Couture Berin dress. I kid, both dresses (and clients) are beautiful in their Berins.

And I am terribly sad to tell you that the vintage gown MK is not really vintage, it was 2007.
What's with the trend to call anything just last season vintage these days?

Real Life Vintage Spot - Karla!

I saw these photos posted on the gorgeous Karla's blog and thought I would share - those are the same Marni wedges I just bought except mine are the all black version. I love how she put an over-the-top corset over her flowing girlie vintage dress. Its a great way to change up the look of a flowery dress and transition it into full on summer too! Although you do have to find a "random stripper store in Paris" to buy it - would LOVE to hear that story

Snaps From The Sale

Thought I would share some snaps from the Huge Clear Out sale yesterday!
It was so much fun and tons of girls from the university turned out!
If you missed it don't worry it was such a success we have decided to do it again in the fall!

Browsing the racks & picking out the must haves!

Here's my friend & fellow dealer Karen, who participated inn the sale with me, in front of a rack of pretty cotton spring dresses.
Isn't she gorgeous in her 1970s Paganne?

Most of the shoppers where shy about me taking photos but I managed to talk a few into letting me take some shots for everyone who could not be there
Beautiful Jessica found this gorgeous 1950s bullet bra bombshell dress that fit her perfectly!

The beautiful intern, Jenny takes a smile break.
Do you love her 1970s Diane Freis top?
It was a borrow from the Shrimpton racks!

Here's the back of that killer dress on Jessica

Hmmmm how the heck do you work this thing?
Yep that is me in a 1970s Mr Dino and my new Marni wedges

Strike a pose - how gorgeous are Shani & Jessica in their pretty vintage finds?

Thanks to everyone who came out and my team & I can't wait for the next one!!

Real Life Vintage Spot - The Glamourai

I could not resist posting this picture of gorgeous blogger The Glamourai.
She is wearing a vintage dress and a banana republic jacket she re-worked.
I adore the combination of colors with the brocade don't you?
She has an amazing sense of style.
I want to DRAG girls like this into my studio and play dress up!

Real Life Vintage Spot - Fleur de Guerre

Vintage model & Pin Up girl about town - Fleur de Guerre - recently attended a wedding and chose vintage as her ensemble. She wore "a dress dating from 1946 with an early 40s red jacket over the top (I wore a red pashmina wrap thingy when inside), complete with red bakelite cherries brooch and red Rocket Originals wedges and nude seamed stockings

I love her make up - what a beautiful girl!

Day To Night

I learned today that I suck at taking snapshots - its harder then it looks to get a good shot - especially when a girl is in a rush! I am just running out the door and don't have time for a redo so you will have to take what you can get. I thought I would take some shots of what I am wearing today - I am popping out to a quasi-business lunch and then have cocktail and dinner party event planned for later this evening. I have to go straight from one to the other so its a good post to show how I do a day to night look when I know I cannot get home in-between events. I am not wearing a ton of vintage today, but as usual I do have one piece on!

DAY LOOK
Gucci silk print dress, vintage 1970s jacket, black tights, Marni platforms & Birkin

NIGHT LOOK
Same dress & shoes, ditched the blazer and changed to Jimmy Choo Leopard print bag I will probably throw on a few big gold pieces from the 1970s too just to add some pop

I love how the red print silk of the dress play off the leopard print.
I will need a brighter lipstick then this when I actually go out later

And did you notice that I went just a touch darker again?
I think I like it better - though I still am tempted to go just a touch shorter in length.
I am really starting to like this short hair look now that I am getting use to styling it.

I saw this picture today of Jean Seberg and I think my next haircut (and night time event - don't you love the short hair with the girlie girl dress??) will get's its inspiration from this picture!

Vintage Goes Nightime Glam

My beautiful little Jenny, intern extraordinaire, had a big event to go to last night so we styled her straight from the Shrimpton racks. Don't you love the crazy draping on this 1970s jumpsuit?!?!?! I think its one of the best I have seen of the season even if it from a season 40 years ago. Jenny rocked it!

1970s silk jersey Vicky Tiel strapless jumpsuit, 1970s gold & enamel armband, 1970s necklace,
her own Aldo shoes and Dior sunglasses

Everyday Vintage

A lot of girls think that vintage is a special occasion kind of thing. And it is! But great basics are great basics and you cannot rule out vintage as day wear. Today I threw on this fabulous tan 1970s Halston trench over a dress and I think it gave it the shot of daytime it needed. I love love love this trench - its classic but the extra wide, and long pointed collar give it that fabulous twist that only vintage Halston can give!

I am getting a ton of emails and requests for more shots of real life vintage like these ones, so I will try to accommodate. Can I tell you I have a new found respect for all those girls that post daily pictures of what they are wearing - its a slight pain in the ass and I have to tell you it makes you feel a bit bashful......but I get that it is fun to see and I check out other girls to see how they wear stuff too.... so I will try to do a few a week.
